Sorrento Bathing Platform

This is a modern re-interpretation of Victorian bathing; a platform inspired by programmatic studies of bathing areas in Sorrento, Italy. These areas were mapped to produce a dynamic field and then, from this map, the spatial relationships were derived. The smooth transition from shops and restaurants, to individual paddling pools and areas for swimming, produce spaces of surprise and delight in the interstitial conditions. The interface between the open air and the datum of sea level is thus enriched beyond present day possibilities.
