Sorrento Bathing Platform
Project location: Sorrento, Italy
Client: Speculative Project
Timescale: May 2007
This is a modern re-interpretation of Victorian bathing; a platform inspired by programmatic studies of bathing areas in Sorrento, Italy. The forms of the platform were derived from studies of aquatic shells and skeletons combined with a fluid dynamic system to mimic water in a computer environment. The smooth transition from shops and restaurants, to individual paddling pools and areas for swimming, produce spaces of surprise and delight in the interstitial conditions. This project was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Show in 2007.
