Jerry Tate BA(Hons) DipArch MArch ARB RIBA
Jerry has extensive experience of delivering large scale commercial and sustainable projects for Grimshaw Architects including the Eden Project in Cornwall. A winner of two prestigious academic awards, he has taught at Harvard University and the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London.
Obtaining his BA(Hons) at Nottingham University, Jerry subsequently completed his Diploma in Architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL where he received the Antoine Predock Design Award. He became a chartered RIBA UK architect in 2000. While completing his Masters in Architecture at Harvard University, he received the Kevin V. Kieran Award for the highest academic achievement in architecture. His studies combined his interest in sustainability with a knowledge of new technologies and computer software to give him a unique insight into the future of low-carbon development.
During his eight years working for Grimshaw Architects, Jerry led the delivery of a number of significant projects. For four years he was project architect of the Eden Project in Cornwall, including the design and construction of the education facilities at the site, called 'The Core'. He has led the design of a number of new-builds and refurbishments of higher education buildings, including a large section of the UCL Institute for Cancer Studies in Bloomsbury, London. He was responsible for the refurbishment and upgrade of the existing Grade I listed buildings surrounding Paddington Station which were grouped together as 'Tournament House'. He has had significant input in the strategic designs of a number of large transport schemes and was project architect for Stansted Terminal 2, in Essex, UK.
In 2007 Jerry established Jerry Tate Architects to pursue his design and research interests.
