Nasmyth Street
Extension and refurbishment of a Victorian terraced house
Project Location: Hammersmith, London, UK
Client: Simon McEwan and Emma Cook
Size: 140m²
Contract value: £120,000
Structural Engineer: Price and Myers
Contractor: Hare Home Improvements
Timescale: Completed April 2010
Located in the Bradmore Conservation Area of Hammersmith, this proposal doubled the size of a two bedroom Victorian terraced cottage. Two additional bedrooms, an extra bathroom and a new kitchen extension transformed the property into a good size family home. The carbon emissions of the building were also improved by 50% from existing, through increased insulation, double glazing and a new efficient boiler and heating system. The spaces in the property now allow both excellent access and good visual connection to the mature rear garden through large areas of openable glazing.
