Project Location: Oxfordshire, UK
Client: Private Developer
Size: 1500m²
Estimated contract value: £2,100,000
Structural Engineer: SKM Anthony Hunt
Sustainability Consultant: Buro Happold
Civil Engineer: Infrastructure Design Studio
Timescale: Target completion in 2012
Currently at the planning stage this proposal for five houses in Oxfordshire will re-interpret the vernacular architecture of the area to create a modern new community in a conservation area. Ground source heat pumps combined with a solar thermal hot water system, photovoltaic panels and an efficient site water strategy will ensure the scheme achieves a level five rating under the Code for Sustainable Homes. Wildflower meadows will denote the new communal spaces on the site combined with swales for sustainable drainage. The scheme will be a beacon for design excellence in contemporary housing design within a rural setting.
