Replacing the original house on the site 'Falconers', which was tragically destroyed by a fire in February 2008, this house is an extremely sustainable residential building. As the environmental editor of the Independent newspaper Mr. Lean is a true authority on the need for low-energy development. The new house meets 'Passivhaus' standards of building fabric design, sequester carbon through lime and hemp construction and has been planned for a future conversion to level six of the Code for Sustainable homes, currently providing a 90% reduction in carbon emissions based on a 'standard' UK new-build. The design achieves this whilst re-creating the Arts and Crafts motifs of the original house through advanced computer modeling.
